Frequently Asked Questions

Are NASA mission transcripts public domain?

Yes. All NASA works are public domain by statute under 51 U.S.C. 20135. Transcripts, photographs, and recordings can be freely reproduced, read aloud, and distributed by anyone.

Are these the actual transcripts?

Yes. We use the official air-to-ground voice transcriptions published by the NASA History Office, cleaned and structured into mission phases so they work as audiobooks.

How are the transcripts structured?

Each mission is broken into phases (launch, transit, key events, return) with speaker labels expanded for listening, e.g. "Commander:" instead of "CDR:". Timestamps are kept as chapter markers.

Will you add more missions?

Yes. Apollo 17 (last Moon landing), Gemini 8, Mercury-Redstone 3 (Alan Shepard), and the Space Shuttle missions are on the roadmap. Subscribe to get notified.
