Frequently Asked Questions

Are Supreme Court opinions public domain?

Yes. All works of the U.S. federal government are public domain under 17 USC 105. This includes every Supreme Court opinion, concurrence, and dissent. Anyone can reproduce, read aloud, or adapt them.

How fast do you publish new decisions?

Our system checks the Court's website on opinion days (typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the October-June term). Major decisions are usually available as audiobooks within 24-48 hours of release, often before any other audio version exists.

Do you include concurrences and dissents?

Yes. Each audiobook includes the syllabus (summary), the majority opinion, and all concurring and dissenting opinions as separate chapters. You hear the full debate, not just the outcome.

What is a case brief?

Each decision comes with a free case brief: the holding, key legal reasoning, concurrence and dissent summaries, and why the case matters. Designed for law students, journalists, and anyone who wants the essentials fast.

Can I use these for teaching or study?

Absolutely. Everything is public domain and free. Law students use our case briefs for exam prep. Teachers use the audiobooks in class. Journalists cite the holdings.
