How to get your Instagram followers file
- In the Instagram app or on the website, open Accounts Center, then Your information and permissions, then Download your information.
- Choose Some of your information and tick Followers and following. Leaving everything else out keeps the file small.
- Pick Download to device, set the date range to All time and the format to JSON, then create the files.
- Instagram notifies you when it's ready, often within minutes but sometimes longer. Download the .zip and drop it above. You don't need to unzip it.
Menu names move around now and then. If you can't find them, search the app's settings for "Download your information".
Why not just use an unfollowers app?
Most unfollower apps ask you to log in with your Instagram password, then scrape your account. That breaks Instagram's terms and can get your account rate-limited or locked, and you're trusting a stranger with your login. Your own data download contains the same lists, comes straight from Instagram, and never leaves your device here. This page reads the file with JavaScript in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
What each list means
- Don't follow you back: accounts you follow that aren't in your followers list. Brands and celebrities will be here, which is normal.
- You don't follow back: people who follow you that you don't follow.
- Mutual: you follow each other.
- Unfollowed you: add an older download and you'll see who was a follower then but isn't now, plus new followers since.
Things to know
The lists are a snapshot from the moment Instagram built your file, so very recent changes won't show. Deactivated accounts can still appear, and a username that changed shows under its new name. The dates show when the follow happened, as recorded by Instagram.
This page is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. It only reads files you choose, and it doesn't keep them.
